Welcome to Unleash Reality
I used to think that I was living in reality. Living fully. Soaked in reality. Unleashed. …and I was. Sort of.
I was in reality but it was a smudged, dull distortion. Distorted by an elaborate story I had fabricated to make myself important. I filtered life into tiny snippets of problems and limitations, tiny snippets that I held right up against my face, making them appear massive.
I felt so excruciatingly stuck and the more I struggled to improve and beat my self-set limitations, the more distortions I layered over reality, like quicksand, making the stuckness worse.
I had nothing going for me. I was bottom of my class. Unhealthy. Hopeless at sport. No friends. Definitely no girlfriend. No money. Worried constantly. Insecure. I lived in a daze. Depressed. Stuck. Unhappy. No passion. No ambition. No drive.
More than anything I didn’t feel Alive…I was getting by but I wasn’t Living.
Then I turned it around. All of it.
I was under pressure to turn my grades around so I worked constantly in spite of how pointless it felt. I fought working and trying to improve academically at first and then I realised that the only thing stopping me from being brilliant was my belief about how I could never be brilliant. I let myself work instead of resisting work. And it worked – I worked – and I did it. I turned my grades around completely, forcing me to challenge my perceptions about everything else I thought was wrong with my life.
The stuckness and distortions evaporated as soon as I realised how unimportant and unreal they were, allowing crisp rays of reality to shine through like the rising sun on the dawn of a new life – a new reality, free of my own limiting beliefs – making me feel unbelievably alive, as though reality was coursing through my body, like I was swimming in it, drenched in life with no more stuckness, no more limitations.
I’ve learned a lot since then. I’ve been on some crazy adventures and had some unbelievably wild experiences to say the least. I’ve learned from and grown with some incredibly inspiring people, inspiring friends. And I’ve gotten a lot done achievement wise, not for achievement’s sake but for the feeling of being fully alive, uninhibited, limitless, and to reconnect with the infinite potential and awesomeness – that I am, that you are and that life is – that I feel when I completely do something, focused, triumphant, immersed in reality and the raw, endless mind-blowing richness of life.
…and I’ve shared some of the things that I’ve learned, that have helped me to get rid of the distortions, reconnect to life, and explode the limits of my reality – ideas, thoughts, processes, habits, mindsets, methods, perspectives, perceptions… – that have changed people’s lives and helped them to realise that their stuckness, limitation… – like the stuckness and limitation I felt – isn’t real. And now I want to share that.
This isn’t personal-development.
This is unleashing.
Unleash Reality.

You should have a widget on the right – one with links to various articles or topics, and one that has some info about the blog itself because you don’t have anything descriptive in your logo, like Glenny has “PluginID – Plug Into Your Identy”. I know Unleash Reality sounds self-explanatory to us, but think about putting up something that sums up the mission of the blog.
Damn, even Graeme is calling me Glenny now, what is the world coming too?
(S)he makes a good point though
Glen did you buy Psycho-Cybernetics in Cape Town? I think I’m going to do some NEI soon and start a life from scratch for the next three months until school starts.
Please stop being a chode and spamming Alex’s delicious new blog with your far-off-the-mark, dry humour.
Congrats man!
Nice articles. You write ‘em, I’ll read ‘em.
I’ll have my own blog up soon too. Looks like a proper community forming here.

Ciao!
What is Psycho-cybernectics and… what is NEI? anyone…?
cheeRZ
Glen coined NEI in a post he made ages ago – it stands for New Environment Immersion, and basically it means you go a live in a completely new environment for a while and forget your old identity. Without all the old familiar things around you any more you can just be how you want to be. Kind of like him moving to SA.
I’ve got psycho-cybernetics – lent it to diggy but i’ll hook it up once you’re done with a new earth. getting my power of now back too for you.
nei is a glen-star invention
Kudos on a brilliant and inspiring 1st post, Alex. There is our perception of reality, and then there is the “real deal.” You’ve discovered the latter. : )
Karen
Thank you Karen, really appreciate it

Thank you – specially given how stellar your blog is
Check back soon and keep well
Alex
Great post, Alex.
I too, like you, was “stuck”. I called it quarter-life crisis, my mom called it drama queen syndrome. Either way, in March I decided enough was enough and changed things I didn’t like, and I’ve def grown since then and learnt a lot, even though it’s only been 2 months.
All the best with the blog, I look forward the next posts!
Renee
Hey Renee,
i think it’s a common thing. forget the phrasing but there’s a saying along the lines of our most personal problems are also the most universal. like we think it’s just us but actually everyone has “quarter life crises” :p
all the best with your transformation too, i’ll be checking back to see progress and reflections!
thanks for the comment
alex

Hey Alex,
Unleash reality. Live life to the fullest.
It might sound cliche, but why not turn up the happiness level to an extreme? There’s no inherent rule that says you have to live a certain way, or that pursuing passions is bad and you need to get a “real” job. That’s societal conditioning talking.
If you can enjoy life maximization, why not do it? That’s the true reality, that life is what you make it. And you can maximize it. So unleash yourself. Unleash reality.
Great stuff Alex, enjoying your articles more and more, especially your relaxed writing style
Best,
Oleg
Hi Alex,
Just gone through some of your post. I only can tell you, it is “breath taking” just by reading them and with tremendous curiosity I would like to know how old you are so I landed on this welcome page !! I could not believe you are only at your early twenties. OMG!! You completely change my perception that age does matter! YOu open my eyes that age will not guarantee maturity at all !
Thanks for your great cause in unleasing reality and not another PD blog. Bravo, Alex! Bravo!
