Excellent stuff. Getting excited is a great way to improve the reality in which you reside.

I like the part about doing things that seem stupid to the majority, but become cool in the end. It’s all about your mindset. If YOU don’t think it’s stupid, then it isn’t.

Ahoy John.

It’s your reality, would you rather be bleak or excited about it? :D

whatever you think is cool, is cool :P check out my post “rap battles and a cuppa tea” – really cool example and story about that idea.

Hahaha, you got me laughing here :D OF COURSE IM FRIGGIN EXCITED! YOU KNOW ME :P

I looooooved this part:
¨Your whole being wants to get up and dance and get dizzy.

You’re walking on sunshine.

It’s the feeling you get when you get up and clap your hands while jumping up and down laughing.¨

It sounds like me :)
It IS an amazing feeling and makes you believe that anything`s possible, and that makes us JUMP to the scary unkown path that leads us to our goals. Your writing could get anyone excited about the simplest things, you use all the cool words and it`s just great.
Now, excuse me while I go share this post with my Roza world.

Hey Jen.

Glad it helped.

one really cool question a friend asked me a while back and has stuck with me is, “shouldn’t you feel good just because you don’t feel good?”

when you catch yourself not feeling excited, just that alone should MAKE you excited. like, “why am i not excited?! wtf?! i’m'a get excited right now.” then jump and clap like a seal :P

thanks for the tweet

Yooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
All the people in the house put your handsssss up! :)

Like Glennie said it’s all about expression and not impression!

Take the plunge and dive in, I like how you write, its funny and magical, almost like fantasy meets reality.

What you said about imagining what you want to achieve before you’ve done it…I think Kanye mentions this in one of his songs, that before he had it he imagined it:)

Great post Alex!

I looooooooooveeeee it!!!!!!!!!!! (That’s me being excited.) I like overusing exclamation points, even though it annoys people. I am excited about things I take the time to write about, so exclamation points are useful. ( Or overuse of emoticons, in your case. Ha!) I love it though, it really conveys joy.

Some days recenlty, I’ve found myself to be obnoxiously happy. Annoyingly so, to the miserable people, that is. And, I think that’s the way I strive to be every day. Excited about life, and everything in it. The world would be a better place if more people were. Great post. :) Stumbled.

haha. i think there’s two kinds of people. three actually. emoticon people. exclamation people. and people who use neither :) we’re the cool ones ;)

obnoxiously happy is okay. they’re just jealous :P

definitely agree. that’s why you’ve gotta stay happy and excited cos, as i said in the article, it’s contagious and good for everyone!

Always love your comments. so real and emotion-driven and… you :D

thank you

How do we sustain this long term ? Life throws us many curves ball which we can’t handle sometimes ;-)

Comment by Alex
30 June 2009 4:10pm

Hey Shamelle!!

Cool to see you here.

glad it had an effect.

how to sustain this long term?
- make it your default state. condition yourself to get excited about everything. remind yourself as much as possible. soon, you’ll realise it’s a much better way to live.

it’s not even so much about this as much as it is not layering things over it. not letting your conditioned excuses and limiting beliefs come in and cover that excitement up.

end of the day, you have to want freedom more than you want your excuses and rubbish.

that’s how you sustain it long term.

question is: do you really want it?

sup?

Nice postive, motivational article.

This excitment- you have to FEEL. You can’t logically apply excitment…
I think this can come with recognising how limitless and amazing life is… I have defnitely had glimpses (although now they don’t seem real :p), of how limetless and free the world is. How BEAUTIFUL and profound the scenery is. How amazing it is to be alive. I felt that. I didn’t think it, I KNEW IT. THAT made me excited.

I think that could be the most important thing? – Once you reveal how awesome life is, it’s not very difficult to get excited about the little things…

See the thing is.The way I see it My life is not great. Or at least it is not where I ‘want it to be’. Yet in those days I felt the most intense happiness and joy, despite not having all the ‘things I wanted. How? By being connected to the greater whole.or something along those lines :)

See that. KNOW AND FEEL that. And you will see the good in everything. In which case there will be plenty to get excited about ;)

Comment by Alex
3 July 2009 3:09pm

Sup mikey g :)

Def agre that it has to be felt. that’s why i put the exercises. the exercises are to DO, not to just think about.

those glimpses. that’s when you stop layering bullsheyeet over who you are and allow yourself to shine through. it’s not like something special or new, it’s just taking away. not an adding to, a taking away… so subtle but so key because the true you, the limitless awesome you is there right now, as you read this, just stop covering it up with rubbish and thought litter.

yip haha. i think once you see how awesome life is, you get excited about anything. you just constantly living in a state of glow. like hale. your laugh becomes super power like hale’s too ;)

something along those lines :)

Alex I recently wrote an article about enthusiasm:

Ways to Develop Your Enthusiasm

* Make a commitment to the importance of enthusiasm in human thriving.
* Make a commitment to yourself that you will get enthusiastic about small things just as much if not more than big things.
* When you are exercising or doing anything in which you are trying to improve, look for and take note of small improvements (even tiny changes) and celebrate them. Be thrilled and excited by them.
* Whenever you find your energy draining out or you are becoming negative, make it a point to find something to become enthusiastic about.
* Get excited about solving problems, especially problems that normally cause the life to drain out of you.
* Get enthusiastic about the success of those around you – your friends, family, or colleagues. Get excited about the success of anyone!
* Sing. A little trick I’ve learned when I’m driving and start to get irritated is to sing some upbeat song. It’s much better than listening to one. Something about you actually singing it yourself makes it impossible to be upset.

ok, ok, in honour of billy mays here is what came to mind when I read the first few lines. lol

Billy Mays here with Get Excited Technology!

Think of every magnetically amazing person you’ve ever met.

Think of all the times when things just clicked and you pulled off something big.

Think of the greatest experiences you’ve ever had.

…what do all of these things have in common and how can you make them happen more?

Hi Alex,

I must admit, it is so much more fun to be around someone who is enthusiastic than someone who’s not.

This reminds me of a family member of ours who is the greatest of story tellers. He stretches the truth, is enthusiastic in his actions, gets others involved and even though we all know his story is an exaggeration of the truth, we keep saying “tell me more” as he’s such a joy to have around.

Yipeeeeee! Yipeeeee! I’m off to work on my levels of joyfulness.

‘Sup HOmie! *high five*

This is definitely your default state. ( except for when you have to get out of bed early! heehee!)

A good way to get excited is also to do things differently, like you suggested in your bite sized post. For example, just walking to work sometimes instead of driving helps you notice a myriad little things to get excited about, like interactions with people along the way, beauty in ancient buildings, squirrels in the park, and birds birds birds. Start noticing the birds – they are everywhere.

Yay! I’m axcaaited…

Hallo lynieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! :)

Hi-ten tannie!! :)

haha. default state. that’s a good and a bad thing. ish. at the same time. it’s controversial :P

deeeefinitely. good idea lynnie dearest :) great example too.

i think all round it’s about making yourself excited enough that you realise you want to be excited all the time. that way even your normal boring way to work is exciting and fun.

squirrels in the park :D

You definitely make a point here. But for me, this was one of those posts where you like how something is being said more than what is being said!

Your whole being wants to get up and dance and get dizzy.
You’re walking on sunshine.
It’s the feeling you get when you get up and clap your hands while jumping up and down laughing.
And you will be laughing when you make things happen.
It’s like every tingle of your body is smiling a big cheesy grin.

I liked this part the most.

Keep it up and stay excited! :)
