How to Become Super Awesome: Get Excited!
Super Awesome
Think of every magnetically amazing person you’ve ever met.
Think of all the times when things just clicked and you pulled off something big.
Think of the greatest experiences you’ve ever had.
…what do all of these things have in common and how can you make them happen more?
Time to Get Excited
Get Excited.
That’s what all those amazingly magical experiences have in common.
People you’re drawn to. Magnetically. People who you just want to be around, who make you feel great around them. They get excited. They get excited about life and whatever they’re talking about and doing.
Those times when you clicked. When you pulled off wonders. When the clouds parted and cartoon birds started flying around a neon rainbow, complete with the pot of gold – rewards for completely immersing yourself in whatever you’re doing. Rewards that come when you get fully excited about what you’re doing.
Think about greatest experiences you’ve ever had. Those unforgettable legends happened when you were excited about what you were doing.
The Beyond Within
Getting excited about something is like diving into the beyond within instead of treading water and fighting to stay at the surface where it’s familiar and safe.
You dive into the flow, you dive into the depth of consciousness, the depth of life and ride the wave all the way to the shore of realising your dreams and ambitions.
When you get excited about something, there’s an energy, a vibe of complete “yes” to everything that colours every aspect of your being.
All resistance and limiting beliefs, all the things that hold you back evaporate when you get excited about what you’re doing.
It’s like tapping into life.
You feel limitless possibility. You are limitless possibility.
…not necessarily in a “the secret” sense with gypsies and purple and smokey incense-saturated caravans but in the sense that you take on a full abundance mindset. You stop looking for “reasons not to do something” and start seeing opportunities. You get excited about it and so you want to make it happen. You want to dive deeper into life and get even more excited.
You instantly become more open to whatever happens.
You get more done and you do it better.
When you’re excited, people want to be around you more. They can feel that raised level of connection to life.
You get excited and that spark ignites in your eyes. That magic little twinkle. And when people look into your eyes they see themselves reflected there, they see life itself.
Vision and possibility envelops every atom of your existence.
And it feels great.
It’s that feeling when you’re completely let go. When you stop holding your breath because you know, you can feel that everything is gonna be okay, better than okay in fact, it’s going to be great.
Your whole being wants to get up and dance and get dizzy.
You’re walking on sunshine.
It’s the feeling you get when you get up and clap your hands while jumping up and down laughing.
And you will be laughing when you make things happen.
It’s like every tingle of your body is smiling a big cheesy grin.
Okay. How?
You know how.
Yip. You do. You might not want to get excited because you’ll have to stop all your excuses and actually do something. You’ll have to let go of the edge and dive the funk in.
And that scares you.
You’re scared that all your problems and stories aren’t real, that you’ll have to actually live your life without the security of your familiar excuses and boring limitations.
But here are a couple things to help you ignite that excitement…
Next time you’re talking to somebody, think about a cool experience that you’ve had or a cute anecdote or story and tell it to them. Not how you usually tell stories. Get excited about it. Sit up straight. Open your eyes a little more. Smile a full smile. Not just your lips, smile with your whole being. And then think about the great parts of what you’re about to tell them and how you want to share that with them and experience life with and through them, reflected in the person you’re talking to. Get excited about what you’re telling them. Even the stupidest ideas become cool and people get excited with you if you’re excited about what you’re talking about. And people will wanna be around you more because when you get excited, they get excited and they’ll want more of that.
Or next time you’re trying to make something happen work-wise or in your personal adventures. Think of how great it’s going to be when you’ve already done what you’re working towards. Close your eyes and picture it. Feel what it’ll be like to be on that holiday, lying on the beach on some Asian island before you run and dive into the turquoise ocean. Fell what the leather will feel like in your new car, what it’ll smell like. Feel how great it’ll be to have that new girlfriend, to get healthy, to change your life. Feel it fully as though it is right now. And then remember that if somebody else has done that then you can too. You just need to make it happen. Just that idea alone – that I can do anything makes me excited, excited to the point where I look for opportunities to make that image into a full, real life 3D high definition reality.
Or next time you’re doing something. Ask yourself, “how you can I make this fun?”. How you can make it memorable. Do the jump and clap. Start singing at the top of your lungs. (“Wonderwall” by Oasis works a treat). Hi-five your friends. Hi-five some strangers. Ask yourself, “how can I make this happen?” And then let whatever happens happen. Get excited and you’ll instantly tap into that acceptance that things will work out. And they will. Get excited about them and they’ll probably turn out to be some of the most memorable experiences you’ll ever have.
Get excited and you’ll be that magnetically amazing person who everyone wants to be around.
And things will just click and you’ll make something big happen.
And you’ll spark some of the greatest experiences and adventures you’ll ever have.
Get excited and you become super awesome.
Are you excited yet?

Excellent stuff. Getting excited is a great way to improve the reality in which you reside.
I like the part about doing things that seem stupid to the majority, but become cool in the end. It’s all about your mindset. If YOU don’t think it’s stupid, then it isn’t.
Ahoy John.
It’s your reality, would you rather be bleak or excited about it?
whatever you think is cool, is cool
check out my post “rap battles and a cuppa tea” – really cool example and story about that idea.

Hey Jen.
Glad it helped.
one really cool question a friend asked me a while back and has stuck with me is, “shouldn’t you feel good just because you don’t feel good?”
when you catch yourself not feeling excited, just that alone should MAKE you excited. like, “why am i not excited?! wtf?! i’m'a get excited right now.” then jump and clap like a seal
thanks for the tweet
alex

All the people in the house put your handsssss up!
Like Glennie said it’s all about expression and not impression!
Take the plunge and dive in, I like how you write, its funny and magical, almost like fantasy meets reality.
What you said about imagining what you want to achieve before you’ve done it…I think Kanye mentions this in one of his songs, that before he had it he imagined it:)
Great post Alex!

I looooooooooveeeee it!!!!!!!!!!! (That’s me being excited.) I like overusing exclamation points, even though it annoys people. I am excited about things I take the time to write about, so exclamation points are useful. ( Or overuse of emoticons, in your case. Ha!) I love it though, it really conveys joy.
Some days recenlty, I’ve found myself to be obnoxiously happy. Annoyingly so, to the miserable people, that is. And, I think that’s the way I strive to be every day. Excited about life, and everything in it. The world would be a better place if more people were. Great post.
Stumbled.
Kareeeeen!!
haha. i think there’s two kinds of people. three actually. emoticon people. exclamation people. and people who use neither
we’re the cool ones
obnoxiously happy is okay. they’re just jealous
definitely agree. that’s why you’ve gotta stay happy and excited cos, as i said in the article, it’s contagious and good for everyone!
Always love your comments. so real and emotion-driven and… you
thank you
keep well and in touch karen dearest
alex
Can’t I create a fourth group? Overuse emoticons…. and exclamation points??!!!
for you… the world
i second that motion. motion passed. done.
you are now officially the supreme leader of the fourth group
Being excited and optimistic is also good for our health.
Ahoy Oscar!
Yezzir.
it’s good for other people’s health too
keep well bra
alex
Reading your post I was feeling “Super Awesome” even for a while.
How do we sustain this long term ? Life throws us many curves ball which we can’t handle sometimes
Hey Shamelle!!
Cool to see you here.
glad it had an effect.
how to sustain this long term?
- make it your default state. condition yourself to get excited about everything. remind yourself as much as possible. soon, you’ll realise it’s a much better way to live.
it’s not even so much about this as much as it is not layering things over it. not letting your conditioned excuses and limiting beliefs come in and cover that excitement up.
end of the day, you have to want freedom more than you want your excuses and rubbish.
that’s how you sustain it long term.
question is: do you really want it?
keep well and in touch
alex – unleash reality
sup?
Nice postive, motivational article.
This excitment- you have to FEEL. You can’t logically apply excitment…
I think this can come with recognising how limitless and amazing life is… I have defnitely had glimpses (although now they don’t seem real :p), of how limetless and free the world is. How BEAUTIFUL and profound the scenery is. How amazing it is to be alive. I felt that. I didn’t think it, I KNEW IT. THAT made me excited.
I think that could be the most important thing? – Once you reveal how awesome life is, it’s not very difficult to get excited about the little things…
See the thing is.The way I see it My life is not great. Or at least it is not where I ‘want it to be’. Yet in those days I felt the most intense happiness and joy, despite not having all the ‘things I wanted. How? By being connected to the greater whole.or something along those lines
See that. KNOW AND FEEL that. And you will see the good in everything. In which case there will be plenty to get excited about
Sup mikey g
Def agre that it has to be felt. that’s why i put the exercises. the exercises are to DO, not to just think about.
those glimpses. that’s when you stop layering bullsheyeet over who you are and allow yourself to shine through. it’s not like something special or new, it’s just taking away. not an adding to, a taking away… so subtle but so key because the true you, the limitless awesome you is there right now, as you read this, just stop covering it up with rubbish and thought litter.
yip haha. i think once you see how awesome life is, you get excited about anything. you just constantly living in a state of glow. like hale. your laugh becomes super power like hale’s too
something along those lines
Alex I recently wrote an article about enthusiasm:
Ways to Develop Your Enthusiasm
* Make a commitment to the importance of enthusiasm in human thriving.
* Make a commitment to yourself that you will get enthusiastic about small things just as much if not more than big things.
* When you are exercising or doing anything in which you are trying to improve, look for and take note of small improvements (even tiny changes) and celebrate them. Be thrilled and excited by them.
* Whenever you find your energy draining out or you are becoming negative, make it a point to find something to become enthusiastic about.
* Get excited about solving problems, especially problems that normally cause the life to drain out of you.
* Get enthusiastic about the success of those around you – your friends, family, or colleagues. Get excited about the success of anyone!
* Sing. A little trick I’ve learned when I’m driving and start to get irritated is to sing some upbeat song. It’s much better than listening to one. Something about you actually singing it yourself makes it impossible to be upset.
Hey Stephen!
Really liked the article.
added a link to it at the end of the article above
thanks for adding it
keep well

ok, ok, in honour of billy mays here is what came to mind when I read the first few lines. lol
Billy Mays here with Get Excited Technology!
Think of every magnetically amazing person you’ve ever met.
Think of all the times when things just clicked and you pulled off something big.
Think of the greatest experiences you’ve ever had.
…what do all of these things have in common and how can you make them happen more?
Time to Get Excited!

Woohoo Alex! You really know how to shake people up! Good on ya!
For now, I’ll focus on “Feel how great it’ll be to have that new girlfriend” to get myself excited! Ha ha… Just kidding. I’m writing this because I know my gf doesn’t read blogs. ;P

Hi Alex,
I must admit, it is so much more fun to be around someone who is enthusiastic than someone who’s not.
This reminds me of a family member of ours who is the greatest of story tellers. He stretches the truth, is enthusiastic in his actions, gets others involved and even though we all know his story is an exaggeration of the truth, we keep saying “tell me more” as he’s such a joy to have around.
Yipeeeeee! Yipeeeee! I’m off to work on my levels of joyfulness.
Hey Barbara!
Yip. good ‘ol story telling fun
i’ve got a wee splash of irish blood so i know all about storytelling exhagurations
i can completely picture the scene. always gets everyone excited and involved
haha getting excited just thinking about it.
glad i sparked some glory into your day
keep well and in touch barbara
alex
‘Sup HOmie! *high five*
This is definitely your default state. ( except for when you have to get out of bed early! heehee!)
A good way to get excited is also to do things differently, like you suggested in your bite sized post. For example, just walking to work sometimes instead of driving helps you notice a myriad little things to get excited about, like interactions with people along the way, beauty in ancient buildings, squirrels in the park, and birds birds birds. Start noticing the birds – they are everywhere.
Yay! I’m axcaaited…
Tannie
Hallo lynieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
Hi-ten tannie!!
haha. default state. that’s a good and a bad thing. ish. at the same time. it’s controversial
deeeefinitely. good idea lynnie dearest
great example too.
i think all round it’s about making yourself excited enough that you realise you want to be excited all the time. that way even your normal boring way to work is exciting and fun.
squirrels in the park
Yay! I’m axcaaited…
Good stuff Alex, excitement can definitely be contagious
Yezzir. contagious. like swine flu. watch out, it’ll getcha
You definitely make a point here. But for me, this was one of those posts where you like how something is being said more than what is being said!
I liked this part the most.
Keep it up and stay excited!
Hey Puneet.
Haha. Glad you liked it either way.
To me, writing style and cool words are like a good cover on a book. just there to entice the reader to keep reading
glad got you excited
keep well and in touch
